Diagnostic command for checking the status of the card in the reader:
cmd → certutil –Scinfo

After downloading and running the diagnostic tool from the links above, the reader should be displayed as shown below: HID® OMNIKEY® WORKBENCH X86 X64 V.1.8.1 (the version may vary). If HID Global is not displayed, the reader drivers are probably missing – install them.
